The whole nation has come together to mark and celebrate the first birth anniversary of His Royal Highness (HRH) The Gyalsey, Jigme Namgyel Wagchuck. To-day is no ordinary day for Bhutan. Many special events are organized across the country.
Kurims are being con-ducted by Zhung Drat-shang in Tashichhodzong and all other rabdeys. The Sertok of Drukgyel Dzong is also being offered today.
The monks are reciting Kanjurs and bums across the country.
Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay also announced that the construction of chortens in Thrumshingla and Pelela will start from today. People from all walks of life are celebrating their Gyalsey’s birthday today.
Karma, 30, a housewife said that HRH the Gyal-sey’s birth anniversary marks an important day in the country.
“He represents the brighter future of our country,” she said.
Namgay Lhamo, 50, a business woman also said she is blessed to see this day. “I pray for healthy and long life of HRH The Gyal-sey,” she said, further add-ing Bhutan and its people has a great future.
Meanwhile, Shelldon, an international ani-mated movie dubbed in Dzongkha will also be launched today. This ani-mated movie is a gift from HRH The Gyalsey to the children of the country.
HRH The Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck was born on February 5, 2016 on Friday at the Lingkana Palace in Thimphu.
Following the Royal birth, the Prince was first presented to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The next day after the birth, His Majesty offered prayers at the Tashich-
hodzong, Dechenphug Lhakhang, Pangri Zampa Lhakhang, and the Gesar Lhakhang.
Later on April 15, 2016, their Majesties along with HRH the Gyalsey visited and offered prayers in Changangkha Lhakhang before moving to Punakha for the naming ceremony of HRH the Gyalsey.
On the auspicious occasion of Zhabdrung kuchoe, April 16, 2016, the naming ceremony of HRH the Gyalsey was held inside the sacred Machen Lhakhang in Punakha Dzong.
Then the name was finally revealed by His Majesty to the crowd of about 10,000 people. Jigme means fearless,
Namgyel means victori-ous in all directions and victory over all obstacles, and Wangchuck is the name of the Royal Wang-chuck Dynasty. And thus, HRH the Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck is nation’s future.
Going back to the year the Gyalsey was born; people of Gyelphozing had the first glimpse of the Gyalsey on June 11. People of Gyelphozing were delighted to welcome HRH the Gyalsey to the east.
On June 15, 2016, HRH arrived in Dungkhar, the ancestral home of the Wangchuck Dynasty. This day was also an immense-ly auspicious occasion, the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpoche.
Their Majesties and HRH offered prayers at the Guru Lhakhang in the Nagtshang, which houses important nangtens of Guru Rinpoche and Pema Lingpa.
His Majesty the King also personally entered His Royal Highness’ name in an ancient document that bears the name of the Wangchuck Dynasty.
Later in the year, their Majesties with HRH the Gyalsey visited Bumthang on August 9, 2016. On the next day HRH was taken to Chumey, the ancestral maternal home of Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen.
On August 13, 2016, His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen, and HRH the Gyalsey graced the consecration of the Guru Nangsid Zilnon Phodrang in Bumthang.
Their Majesties also vis-ited Kurje Lhakhang and Lhodrak Karchu Monas-tery with HRH the Gyalsey and offered prayers.
Hindu community had a special day to remember of the Gyalsey’s first year. On October 11, 2016, HRH celebrate Dassain with them.
Then came the 109th National Day celebration in Trongsa. Thousands from across the coun-try gathered to get the first glimpse of beloved Gyalsey.
Following the National Day, His Majesty the King with HRH the Gyalsey visited the Trongsa Dzong on December 18.
This day marked a symbolic occasion of the arrival of future Trongsa Penlop along with the Past and Present King of the country.
HRH the Gyalsey also visited the ancestral paternal home of Her Majesty in Tangsibji. The people celebrated the joyful moment where His Majesty also granted a Tokha to the people.
And now one year today since his birth, HRH The Gyalsey has melted hearts of the Bhutanese. HRH is also a sensational heartthrob globally.
