Bhutanese must cultivate the usage of solar power in the country with the government doing lots in harnessing solar power. We must explore not necessarily from the government side but also from private entrepreneurs of launching solar driven equipment’s and other home use appliances and other related accessories.
The Government had demonstrated the solar house construction in the country and also other items like solar water heater, solar dryer for the rural communities, a model house still exist in lower Motithang and also solar water heater and solar dryer for the rural population areas. It has been very efficient in handling without much cost because it’s a passive type that is without solar cell and work comfortably in the country.
We still can harness the sun’s energy in a few different ways, Photovoltaic cells, which can convert sunlight into electricity. Solar thermal technology, where heat from the sun is used to make hot water or steam can also be explored.
There are myraid uses of solar energy, Solar energy for water heating, solar cookers, solar heating, solar ventilation, solar lighting, Portable solar and solar transportations that already exist in advance countries.
I am of the opinion that this solar works is already in pipe line for further exploration. As such, Bhutan must concentrate in exploring solar cars for its longevity as it has great benefits as we have limited resource so as to minimize the usage of fossil fuels in the country which is in line with the conservation of environment.
But in the market solar/ electric cars seems very expensive while importing from the other countries. Actually it should be cheaper because it a matter of charging battery and other related works only but the builder take advantages.
This is possible only if Company like M/s. Zimdra or M/s Singye Agency M/s. Thunder Motors, M/s Kuenphen Auto & many more takes part in introducing & producing the cars in the kingdom or at least venture with big companies from aboard or at least try to initiate in assembling the cars in Bhutan for time being with the help of government because it doesn’t cause pollution & is a free energy & it will never run out.
If any firm bring good proposal, the government will definitely extend full support in this areas, since the best solar power scheme now offer the cheapest electricity in history with the technology cheaper than coal & gas in most major countries.
According to the International Energy Agency’s & so there are many companies exist in the world like Wal – Mart & Apple are some of the companies who have held top spot as leading companies using solar energy & they have held the top spot for two consecutive years in the world.
Actually, solar cars harness energy from the sun by converting it into electricity & this electricity fuels the battery that runs the cars motor instead of using battery, some solar cars direct the power straight to an electric motor& it use photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into energy. As such, relevant department within the government must draw a road map in capturing the free energy once for all.
