Sonam Tobgay won the “Happy Dragon Baseball” art competition

Sonam Tobgay from Mongar holding a degree in B. Design Multimedia from Lovely Professional University, India won the competition for the “Happy Dragon Baseball” art competition.

The press release for the Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association (BBSA) states that the selection was done from 57 registrations we received from school and college students, lhadrips, teachers, storyboard artists, illustrators, 2D animators, and graphic designers.

This exciting artistic competition was launched on 18 December last year on the same day that BBSA launched it’s first-ever Under-15 baseball league in Bhutan.

The winning artist has received Nu 100,000 as a cash prize and a certificate of appreciation from Bhutan BBSA and Bhutan Cultural Exchange, the sponsor of the art competition.

The press release states that the objective of the Happy Dragon Baseball art competition was to provide an opportunity to the artists of Bhutan while introducing and creating an awareness of the beautiful games of baseball, softball, and baseball5.

Founded by Karma Dorji, President of BBSA, and long-standing resident Matthew DeSantis (American), BBSA is the national governing body of baseball and softball in Bhutan. BBSA oversees the development of “diamond sports” across the country, organizing senior and youth baseball camps, sessions, leagues, and national competitions.

While the BBSA is an officially affiliated sports association with the Bhutan Olympic Committee, and also a country member with the World Baseball & Softball Confederation, Baseball Federation of Asia, and Softball Asia.
