DTT introduces three more candidates

Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa (DTT) this week introduced three more candidates during their familiarisation trip to South-Thimphu on 14 January.

The candidates are Norbu from Khar-Yurung constituency in Pemagatshel, Tashi P Dorji representing Nyisho-Sephu constituency in Wangduephodrang and Leki Wangchuk from Khatoed-Laya constituency in Gasa.

Since registration in August 2022, the party has so far introduced 23 candidates, including its President Kinga Tshering from North-Thimphu and Vice President Dr Chenga Tshering from

Thrimshing_Kangpara in Trashigang.

The candidates pledged to serve the country and its people in the Thuendrel’s fashion, messey tuendre or the citizen’s union.

Thuendrel’s candidate for Khar-Yurung constituency in Pemagatshel, is 46 years old, Norbu.

He was an educator for 19 years working his way up as a teacher, officiating principal, and vice principal across schools in the east and parts of west. He is also a mentor to students falling victims to domestic violence and drug abuse.

A soft-hearted person and a philanthropist by nature, Norbu mobilises resources and volunteers to help those from humble backgrounds in rebuilding their homes.

He has Master’s in Leadership and Management program from Paro College of Education.

Tashi Penjor Dorji, 31, from who is a well-rounded, multi-talented film actor, script writer and director from Sephu in Wangduephodrang will represent Druk Thuendrel from the Nyisho-Sephu constituency.

Winner of several awards in the film industry, including Best Actor twice consecutively in 2018 and 2019 and Best Newcomer in 2017, Tashi P as he is more fondly known is a 2014 graduate of Sherubtse College in Kanglung. He has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science.

In a film career spanning more than five years, Tashi P has written scripts and acted and directed more than a dozen films so far.

Similarly, 30-year-old Leki Wangchuk from Pazhi is Thuendrel’s Khatoed-Laya candidate in Gasa.

He is a graduate from the College of Science and Technology, Phuentsholing and pursued Bachelors’ of Engineering in Electronics and Communications.

He is a recipient of His Majesty The King’s academic excellence certificate for three consecutive years while in school, Leki ventured into construction business after graduation.

With communications as his elective subject, his last assignment was to accompany Hollywood actor Will Smith as translator during his recent visit to Laya to shoot a TV series, Pole to pole for the National Geographic channel.

Kinga Tshering, the party’s president, stated that the general people does not desire new political parties because most parties fell short of their objectives despite making lofty pledges during the elections.

He claimed that when drafting their commitments, the party consulted every chiwog regardless of their size or the number of potential voters.
