The Bhutan Tennis Federation (BTF) organized a talent identification camp 2023 with over 50 students participating in various age categories of U-10, U-12 and U-14.
The camp was aimed at identifying and nurturing young tennis talents in the country and to provide them with an opportunity to receive high-level training and coaching. The participants received training from experienced coaches and received guidance on technique, tactics, and physical conditioning.
The camp was held at the Bhutan Tennis Federation facilities and students received a comprehensive training program that covered both on and off-court activities. Off-court activities included video analysis, nutrition workshops, and mental conditioning sessions. On-court activities included technical and tactical training sessions, match play, and physical training.
Students were also exposed to various drills and games that helped them to develop their skills, such as agility, hand-eye coordination, and footwork. This not only helped to develop their tennis skills but also helped to build their confidence and competitiveness.
The talent identification camp was a huge success with many students showing great potential and improvement during the camp. The Bhutan Tennis Federation received positive feedback from the students and their parents, who appreciated the efforts made by the federation in identifying and nurturing young tennis talents in the country.
The Bhutan Tennis Federation’s Talent Identification Camp 2023 was a significant step in the development of tennis in Bhutan, providing young players with the opportunity to receive high-quality training and coaching. The success of the camp has set a positive precedent for future talent identification and development initiatives in the country.
The children who were above the age of 10 were assessed on the skills that they had learned thus far in the camp. The assessment was conducted by the Technical Director Tshering Namgyal with the help of National Head Coach Yonten and all the junior coaches of the Bhutan Tennis Federation.
Tshering Namgyal was thoroughly impressed with the level of talent on display. He praised the children for their hard work and dedication, and commented that he was confident that many of them had what it takes to make it to the next level. The National Head coach and the junior coaches, too, were impressed by the children’s progress and were pleased with the level of support that the Bhutan Tennis Federation was providing to help them reach their full potential.
The children were divided into groups for a series of fun and challenging games and activities that put their skills to the test. They were able to show off their newfound abilities and put into practice the lessons that they had learned over the past week.
The day was a resounding success, and it was clear that the children had learned a great deal and had made tremendous progress over the past week. The Bhutan Tennis Federation is proud of the work that they have done to support the development of young tennis players in Bhutan.
In conclusion, the Tennis Talent Identification Camp 2023 has been a wonderful opportunity for young tennis players to learn, grow, and develop their skills. The hard work and dedication of the children, along with the guidance and support of the Technical Director, National Head Coach and the junior coaches, have set the foundation for a bright future for tennis in Bhutan.
The camp ended with the awarding of certificates yesterday.
