The two-day Tech Solutions Connect Forum was held in Thimphu, bringing together Bhutanese IT companies, tech innovators, start-ups and freelancers to showcase locally developed digital solutions and connect with potential clients.
Organised by the Government Technology Agency, the forum aims to promote homegrown technologies by providing a platform for exhibition, networking and collaboration, contributing to Bhutan’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.
The event features exhibitions and demonstrations of a range of locally developed technologies, including cybersecurity solutions, point-of-sale (POS) platforms, software applications and smart robotics. Participants from government agencies, financial institutions, private sector organisations and the technology industry are attending the forum to explore digital solutions and partnership opportunities.
According to organisers, the forum was established to create opportunities for local technology developers to present their products and services while helping organisations discover solutions developed within the country.
Assistant ICT Officer with the Government Technology Agency, Tshokey Lhamo, said the forum provides a platform for Bhutanese IT companies, tech innovators, start-ups and freelancers to showcase their digital solutions and capabilities.
“By promoting locally developed digital solutions, the forum is contributing to Bhutan’s digital transformation,” she said.
She said the event allows local developers to connect with potential clients and explore business opportunities while enabling organisations to learn about technologies developed by Bhutanese companies and innovators.
“Through this forum, the Government Technology Agency is providing a platform for local IT companies and tech developers to showcase locally developed digital solutions, connect with potential clients and explore business opportunities,” she said.
The forum also seeks to strengthen collaboration between technology solution providers and organisations from different sectors. Organisers say stronger partnerships could help increase the adoption of local digital solutions and create new opportunities for innovation.
Tshokey Lhamo said the agency hopes the event will foster partnerships between solution providers and organisations across the private sector, financial institutions and other industries.
“The forum is expected to increase awareness and encourage the adoption of digital solutions, creating new business opportunities and strengthening the overall ICT ecosystem,” she said.
Business-to-business networking sessions are among the key components of the programme, providing participants with opportunities to discuss potential collaborations and technology needs. The sessions are expected to help developers establish connections with organisations seeking digital solutions for their operations and services.
The forum comes as Bhutan continues to encourage innovation and the use of technology across sectors. By bringing together developers, entrepreneurs, businesses and institutions, the event provides a platform for knowledge sharing and engagement within the country’s technology community.
Forum continued to highlight the work of local developers and technology companies throughout the two-day event. Through exhibitions, demonstrations and networking opportunities, participants are expected to gain greater exposure to locally developed technologies and explore ways to collaborate on future digital initiatives.
The Tech Solutions Connect Forum concluded with organisers hoping the event will contribute to greater awareness and adoption of Bhutanese digital solutions while supporting the growth of the country’s ICT sector.
