The Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) has successfully concluded the International Cricket Council (ICC) Level 3 Coaching Course, held from April 27 to May 1.
The ICC Level 3 Coaching Course is considered one of the top qualifications in cricket coaching. It is designed for experienced coaches who work with advanced players and aim to raise the standard of cricket in their countries.
Bhutan’s selection as the host nation reflects the growing recognition of the country’s efforts in cricket development and its increasing importance in the Asian cricketing community.
A total of 21 coaches from 14 cricket-playing nations in Asia, along with two coaches from Bhutan, participated in this prestigious program. The course aimed to enhance their technical knowledge, coaching strategies, and leadership skills, all of which are essential to developing professional cricket players.
This gathering of elite coaches in Thimphu also allowed for the sharing of experiences, challenges, and ideas, creating a platform for regional cooperation in cricket development.
BCCB expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the International Cricket Council for trusting Bhutan with this important responsibility. The successful hosting of this course is seen as a milestone in Bhutan’s cricket journey and a sign of its increasing presence on the global stage.
The collaboration between ICC and Bhutan is expected to bring long-term benefits for cricket across the region.
The course was led by four distinguished ICC Master Educators: Md Aminul Islam, Mohammad Iqbal Sikander, Parchur Kumar Shukla, and Binod Das. These experienced mentors guided the participants through a series of intensive sessions, which included both classrooms learning and on-field activities.
Their expert instruction, mentorship, and deep understanding of the game were highly appreciated by all participants and played a major role in the course’s success.
Adding to the excitement of the event, three cricketing legends: Sanath Jayasuriya, Mohammad Hafeez, and Azhar Ali, made their presence. Their visit to Bhutan was a proud moment for the entire cricketing community in the country.
They interacted with coaches, shared their experiences from international cricket, and inspired many young players and fans. Their words of encouragement and support made a lasting impression on all who attended.
Throughout the five-day course, coaches explored advanced topics such as game planning, player management, match analysis, mental conditioning, and performance improvement.
These sessions were designed not just to improve coaching skills but also to build a professional cricketing culture in the region. BCCB also thanked the participating coaches for their dedication and enthusiasm.
Their active engagement and willingness to learn were essential in making the program successful. Many participants praised the course’s structure and the hospitality they received in Bhutan, expressing admiration for the country’s beautiful environment and the warmth of its people.
The event would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of the Bhutan Cricket team who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
Their efforts in hosting international guests and maintaining high standards throughout the course were widely appreciated.
With the successful completion of this coaching course, BCCB believes that the foundations for a stronger and more professional cricketing future have been laid. The knowledge gained by the participating coaches will directly benefit their home countries, and Bhutan will also see a rise in the quality of coaching and player development in the years to come.
This event has clearly demonstrated Bhutan’s capability to host international cricket programs and has strengthened its ties with the ICC and other Asian cricketing nations.
Bhutan Cricket hopes to continue this positive momentum and looks forward to further collaboration with the ICC in the future.
The ICC Level 3 Coaching Course in Bhutan has been more than just an educational program; it has been a celebration of the sport and a significant step toward the growth of cricket in Bhutan and beyond.
